Transportation is one of the highest unmet needs for 211 callers across the U.S. In 2018, United Way partnered with Lyft, the fastest growing rideshare company in the U.S., to provide over 11,000 free rides to people with specific healthcare, employment, and veterans’ transportation needs. 211 specialists in Atlanta, Austin, Boston, Cleveland, Denver, Houston, Milwaukee, Nashville, Philadelphia, Orlando, San Diego and San Francisco assessed clients' needs and provided them with one-way or round-trip rides to get to and from job interviews, medical appointments, and other vital services. The partnership is anticipated to expand in 2019.
